J2A Metal Recycling Project During the Yard Sale on Saturday, May 5, the J2A youth will also be accepting metals that they will then recycle for money. What is meant by “metals,” you say? Here are just a few of the types of things that can be recycled: Aluminum Cans & Bakeware (aluminum anything), Copper Pipe and Fittings (look under your work bench in the garage for those pieces you saved “in case you might need them”), Small Kitchen Appliances (toasters, blenders, hand mixers, deep fryers), Cookware (pots, pans, skillets, etc.), Steel Tools (carpentry, garden, etc.), Old Cutlery (knives, forks, spoons, tongs, etc.), Metal Hangers & Shoe Stretchers, Car Parts (bumpers, hubcaps, carburetor, etc.), Lighting Fixtures (indoor or outdoor), Stoves and Cooktops (yes if they are not in good working order and Habitat for Humanity won’t take them, we will). With that said, there are a few things we won’t take because it would be unsafe for the J2A kids to dismantle them. They are: NO electronics (computers, printers, etc.), NO batteries, No Microwaves NO Sharp Objects (razor blades, etc.) HAPPY HUNTING!!!!!
Our J2A young people want to remind everyone to think about what they might want to donate to the upcoming yard sale (the proceeds of which will benefit the Summer of 2013 pilgrimage). We will take just about anything except adult clothing (just too hard to display). If in your top-to-bottom-of-the-house-and-garage search you find some items too beat-up to sell at the sale, the J2A teens will be collecting aluminum cans, copper, and steel for recycle. so if you have soda cans (rinsed out please), a scratched up frying pan, rusted fence post, bent light fixture or broken faucet, J2A will give it a second life and earn money toward their pilgrimage through recycling.
YARD SALE MAY 5-7AM - 1PM- Please keep our J2A yard sale in mind when doing your spring cleaning.
