In this chapter, we hear about Philip and his preaching and exclaiming the good news of Jesus Christ. The Samarians believed. So did Simon and the Ethiopian eunuch. And so do I.
I suppose the original Apostles were the only ones who could bring the Holy Spirit to baptized believers since Peter and John went to Samaria to lay hands on them.
When Philip met the Ethiopian eunuch, he was reading the prophet Isaiah. When Philip asked if he understood what he was reading, his answer was, “How can I, unless someone guides me?”
As I read the Bible and try to understand the meanings of the words I read, I ask myself that question and realize my answer is the same as the Ethiopian’s. I wonder if others are as unsteady with the Word as I am? How can I know more about the history of the Bible, the culture of the times? Am I willing to devote the time to do that or am I just comfortable in my faith.
Perhaps you have some of the same questions? Or perhaps you have some answers for me. Either way, I hope this blog will become a good way for all to communicate thoughts, feelings, needs.
