WHO WE ARE
St. Martin's Mission Statement
We are called to be disciples of Jesus Christ, ministering to all, thereby proclaiming God’s love. We strive, both individually and together, to experience a deeper relationship with God, and in changing times, to extend Christ’s unchanging ministry to one another, our community, our nation, and the world.
St. Martin's "Rules of Life"
We will nurture and equip one another through worship, learning, sharing, healing, and feeding so that we may extend ourselves and our community to those who may know Christ through and with us. With God’s help we will:
I Equip and challenge ourselves and one another to minister joyfully and faithfully to all who join our journey of discipleship and mission.
II Open our hearts, doors, resources, and altar to all who seek sanctuary with us--refreshed by the presence of God.
III Plan with faith for our future, building upon our legacy of Eucharistic worship, outreach, and inclusive fellowship.
IV Be both grateful and wise stewards of all that God has given us by nurturing and sharing our gifts and talents.
V Discern the future needs in the greater Williamsburg area to fulfill St. Martin's Mission.
St. Martin’s is a welcoming, Christ-centered parish where we value diversity in the expressions of our faith. To meet the needs of all, we offer three Sunday services, each different from the others and grounded in the Episcopal tradition. Once a month we offer the ministry of healing with laying-on of hands and special prayers.
We also offer a wide variety of small-group experiences, both spiritual and educational, that provide opportunities for fellowship, growth, and support.
We struggle with the tension between our founding mission to give away half of our resources and attending to the needs of a growing church. We are committed to being responsible and caring members of our larger community, working to improve the world in which we live. As a family of believers, we’re also committed to one another, helping to ensure that we remain a warm and vibrant parish.
